My grandfather ... ( 6 days ago by villagemojo)
My grandfather Ransom Cundy went down with the Fitz. The song will live on for generations to come but the scrapbook and video my mother has from all of this will last longer. It is wonderful to see the interest and the genuine sorrow for the 29 who lost their lives that stormy November night. I was 6 years old but I remember the storm from that night because I live in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. I only wish I had had known my grandfather more before he left us..

I worked on the ore boats off and on through college. I can still feel the chill of the autumn winds and see the grey skies and choppy seas. This song captures it all.

lol she was an iron ore carrier. they went of corse to try to stay safe trying to hug the coast. the captian on the ship following them said the lights of it just disapered to this day they still dont know how it sunk. there alot of ideas how; like two waves went under each end and it collapsed or that the contaners for the ore got filled but no one knows. they just had a memoriol for the family's they replaced the bell on it with a bell that had all 29 people's names that was on her.

Wow! I was born in Rockford, Illinois. Close to the Great Lakes, but far enough away of those great waters. Yet I remembered those navy blue stormy clouds on land. What a wonderful video with Gordon's music.

Thanks irishpolski. Gordon's words are so powerful and the event tragic, but so many did not know the story and I was one. It moved me to research his song. I simply put pictures to his words. May they all rest in peace.

God Bless and rest all of their souls...even those who weren't on the Edmund. They were shipmates on other ships which, I'm sure, felt guilt that they survived the storm and have now passed on. And even though there are some who may continue to live, may God grant them peace.

The Great Lakes are really nice in my opinion. Much better than the saltwatered/shark/jellyfish/coral infested oceans anyways. I'll take Lake Michigan over Waikiki Beach (and I've been to Waikiki Beach). Assuming it's summertime of course, otherwise I'd be ice skating on Lake Michigan.
