i am 47 and thought i would go swimming in the atlantic ocean , like when i was young only then i went into the lake and there were no waves i almost drowmed but was proud i finaly went then i started swimming lesson this monday and my back is killing me i can barely walk so i am taking one more lesson and then doing water aerbic for awhile and practice on my own but i forget how to even float and dog peddle it's been 4 days and i miss the water can't wait till tommrow

It'll take you like 2 weeks if you really do practice everyday... that depends however on if you have any fear of water and how committed you are

I can't understand how people learn how to swim on their own. My brother learned when he was 8-9 years old, all by himself. That's one of the reasons i hate him so much. I'm 23 and i just can't even lift my feet off the ground while in the sea. I'm terrified.

the best way to learn to swim is take a breath and go under water and allow ur self to float on top.. once u realize that ur laying on the water u will see that u can swim..

my dad is such a great swimmer and he just pushed me into the water... expecting me to learn how to swim right then and there. i panicked and have been afraid of the water since. then he tried to teach me how to float... so i can do that. but i guess i'm not coordinated enough to swim lol. i'll be taking lessons this fall... i just want to get over the huge fear of deep water. i mean... i don't want to live with it my whole life. i'm already 16 and how much longer can i wait?

How hard is it to at least figure out how to rotate your arms and kick your legs? I could doggy paddle and then saw the rotational arm motion and leg kicking on TV and then I did that... I guess I don't swim well but there's nothing tough about not drowning.

Man, you don't how it feels reading comments and watching the video. I felt like I was the only adult who didn't know how to swim and I felt embarrassed. My friends and relatives would have fun going into the deep end while I clung to the edge. I'm learning to swim now, and it's tough, but I hope I come out BETTER than I was coming in.
I'm not scared of the water it's just that simply, I don't know how to swim to save my life. I wasn't around water during my childhood, so now I'm paying for it.
