i dont no what 3/4 or 4/4 style of drumming means but this guy must be playing in a 16/16 style man off key fills and off the wall stuff not u basic hi hat snare beat !!!!!!

well to memorize alot of drum solos
and stuff like this its all about muscle memory... like u train ur wrists to do sertain notes that when u think of that note it will trigger and then u can lap other beats to ur thinking to tell ur arms what to do next... kinda like multitasting but in drummer terms

for me - the qualities of mister bozzio are clear!!! whatch some solos nowadays - and you want to throw your sticks away :-)
the amazing thing is the year -when this style of drumming - was created by him - 1979 (inspired also through classical music study)

Terry was fired out of a cannon on the day he was born. When he landed, it was on a drumkit. He should do the soundtrack for a fireworks display.

no it isn't. 16/16 means that there are 16 beats in a measure and the 16th note is one beat. 4/4 means there are 4 beats in a measure and the quarter note gets one beat. Reducing fractions doesn't apply to time signatures; look to the radical differences between 6/8 and 3/4 for proof.

the guys got so much energy and he is an animal with those arms. tony williams played like this too who is also very interesting to watch. TW played jazz but the way he played was almost like rock. he played hard.

Terry is simply one of the best!
and he's been around for awhile, I saw him back in the 80's with UK, he was sitting in for Bill Bruford, also one of the best.
I saw Terry recently with the Zappa plays Zappa tour, and he still has it !!!

Incredibly boring solo. No rhythm, no groove, just a firework of ultrafast singlestrokes.
Don't get me wrong, I consider Bozzio as one of the greatest drummers. I just don't like those kind of solos.

Whoa...no way Terry Bozzio is up there in the top 3 in the past 40 years. I would say Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd, Vinny C, maybe Jojo Mayer and a couple others rank ahead of Terry. Nothing against him, and he's definitly a legend.
And PS whoever said Alex Van Halen wasn't a great drummer is foolish. Alex simply rocks! Just because he is not known for solos, or jazz, etc...Alex is one of the all-time great rock drummers, for showmanship - sound- feel- and representing "cool" , period!
