haha. the ramones were actually better received in the uk than in the us... the sex pistols went to see the ramones' first uk show - they hadn't even played a show yet..
on lennon you have it backwards. he would steal the entire song and put in his own words. yeah, the beatles put it all together better than anyone, but i actually prefer the stones, if we're talking 60's uk bands.
as for imagine, i'd like to invoke elvis costello: Was it a millionaire who said 'Imagine no possessions?'

I live in UK...on both radio/TV the Ramones dont get a tenth of the coverage Sex Pistols get..nor the Clash.
When people think of Punk their first thought are Sex Pistols...Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious...iconic punk athem "God save the Queen". Sex Pistols define anarchy.
Lennon was a genius...a hypocrite who gave his son zero love that he professed top the world, but such are the flaws that accompany genuis

yeah cause punk has always been about who gets more tv/radio coverage. i mean.. more people have seen the us version of the office - millions per week. does that mean our version is better than the bbc original? of course not.
so the sex pistols and the clash worship the ramones and give them their due, but you won't. and lennon openly admits he stole songs, but you dismiss this and don't care to learn anything about who he stole from. 'never heard of em' is your defense..

Guys, it comes down to nothing more than personal preference when it's a one-on-one argument. To use the word "better" is already a big sign of poor arguing.
The Sex Pistols and The Ramones are two VERY different bands, it's not about who came first or who got more coverage. I've got every single song ever made by the Sex Pistols but I actually prefer The Ramones. I'm British, and this has nothing to do with it. See what I'm getting at?
