Now all you guys ... ( 1 year ago by KTalon86)
Now all you guys need are a Trumpet, Trombone player, an Organist, 2 guys dressed like "Hasidic Diamond Merchants" and a big venue, and you can be the blues brothesr, j/k. Good playing though seriously.

Yes. I agree with nottyham. The guitarist has reasonable skills, but the tone is very poor. Far too much treble and not much bass sound, or sustain. It all contributes to a tinny guitar sound.

i think the band is great except the bass player, you can't say that it's jazz cuz you only play one same boring pattern

Be gentle on the guitarist! I thought he had some nice little themes going on the solo, the sound is tinny, but he can fix that pretty easily. They look like kids! Its nice to hear younger cats making the effort to play this stuff and pulling it off with some real talent, look forward to seeing more videos!

Guitarist-Practice ... ( 1 year ago by ltotheatothendon)
Guitarist-Practice improvising alone with a metranome, only using swingin' 8th notes. You have nice licks by your time needs some work. Also, don't grip the neck; you are, and that's why you're fumbling with the fast runs. Think of your left palm as a basket while you're playing; you want to form a claw around the outside of the neck. This will build a lot of muscle and make it easier to play fast. Other than that, this is pretty sweet. Great tenor work.

Yes, very reminiscent of Sonny Stitt, I agree. Who and where are these "cats"?
Bass solo was ... ( 1 year ago by kakvostava)
Bass solo was horrible, out of beat, no idea at all. Also, even if you insist on playing such music on e-bass, this is definitely the wrong instrument (Fender precision or something).

he was only off for about a bar. leave the guy alone.

I haven't listened to this in awhile and just came back to it. Guys, great work. Yes, some parts are shaky, but that's jazz. I love it.

it wasnt that bad. as for the bass, i agree that upright is better for jazz, however in all fairness his bass aint bad. its not a precision, if you look at the pick guard and pick ups, its pretty clear that its a fender JAZZ bass

Upright is better ... ( 6 months ago by aznbballstar155)
Upright is better for swing, not jazz in general. I love the sound of electric bass on a nice latin jazz song :D
Of course, I don't think I'd suggest a even a fender jazz bass for latin jazz. =P
Not that I know ANYTHING about basses, I'm a saxophone player.
i guess i am kind ... ( 6 months ago by asshead27)
i guess i am kind of biased being primarily and upright player. however i would agree on the electric for most latin.
What's that bass ... ( 6 months ago by shunshinesuzy)
What's that bass that Geddy Lee uses? My friend play that on a few latin pieces we do with our combo and he sounds great. Of course, he is just a great bassist overall, upright or otherwise.

haha is the bass player quoting birdland ~3:30? That's pretty awesome.

oh shut the hell up.
your clearly not a professional musician. your just some ass wipe on youtube criticizing people trying to make yourself sound like a musician. your probably a viola player.
the guys solo was fine. your just to much of a stuck up douche bag to open your ears to someone else's preference of sound.
you'll never make it in the jazz world.
