Maxine Sullivan - Skylark
Uploaded by: kspm01
Video Description:
Although this recording is notably more recent than what I normally post, I make an exception because I got a request for this particular Carmichael song, and since this is really an outstanding interpretation by a largely unknown vocalist (she recorded very few jazz records, and is best remembered for rather folklike arrangements). This record was made for Columbia in 1946. At that occasion, Sullivan was accompanied by Ellis Larkins, piano; Everett Barksdale, guitar and Beverly Peer, bass.

We sung it in my choir.
Grateful thanks for posting.
seems to me as if she were speaking to sky-lark just in front of her and let him(?)fly
away for searching! thanks for posting.
very charming and intimate style of singing! seems to me as if she were speaking to a skylark just in front or nearness of her
and then let him(?)fly high-up in the sky
again for another information.
anyway this female singer has not been a
big name here in japan and as oters say
she must have been understated all over. this version can be saied all the more precious.
thank you again for posting.
